Institute for Personality and Ability Testing

The test, used by many companies (like IBM) for screening purposes(during the hiring phase), was composed by three sections, until 2011:

·         Number Sequences

·         Mathematical Reasoning

·         Data Matrices (From 2012 there is no more Data Matrices section)

The IBM online test is timed, with each question allocated its own time limit of 2.15 minutes.

For a first example (comprehensive of Number and Reasoning) look at:

General Remarks

  • Time: about 45 min (= 2700 sec.) for the entire test. Time allotted for each question is 2 min and 15 sec (= 135 sec).
  • Amount: Each section is composed by 20 questions
  • Pause: there is no pause: plan to take entire test alltogether (about 1 hour)
  • Pass Mark: it should be <= 50%

Number Sequences

It consists of 20 questions, asking you to fill the missing number (it could be accomplished only by identifying the patterns).

The numerical series questions are more challenging than any other numerical questions you may have come up against in the past. In fact, there multi-dimensional. ones

It is intended for evaluating the problem determination (inference) capabilities, through induction skills.

Useful Tips

  • make use of Number Series Game (for Android)

Mathematical (Logical) Reasoning

It consists of 20 questions, asking you to find a specific value relevant to the situation described in the text.

It is intended for evaluating problem solving capabilities, through deduction skills.

Useful Tips

  • write down simultaneous equation form as meny numerical reasoning questions
  • not get confused by the words
  • start from equation about final value to determine: sometimes numbers in the situations are been conceived to be simplified
